Introducing the Hormonal IUD in Madagascar, Nigeria, and Zambia: Results from a Pilot Study

This study, published by BMC Reproductive Health, reflects the results of a USAID-funded pilot study on the introduction of the hormonal Intrauterine Device (IUD) in Nigeria, Madagascar, and Zambia. The study analyzed the introduction of the hormonal IUD from the perspective of the family planning user; it included favorable findings on user satisfaction and continuation rates as well as insightful information on demographic profiles of those who chose the method. Work completed by USAID's SIFPO2 project is also included in the study. MOMENTUM Private Healthcare Delivery is now taking this work forward by leveraging the findings from this study in Nigeria and Madagascar to scale up demand generation and training of private providers.
