Vietnam
We partner with Vietnam’s health system to increase COVID-19 vaccination, especially among marginalized populations.
In Vietnam, MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity provides technical assistance to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the National Expanded Program on Immunization to expand COVID-19 vaccination among marginalized and rural populations.
Expanding COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage for Hard-to-Reach Populations
Overall, Vietnam has high vaccination rates against COVID-19. However, vaccination has been less accessible to those living in remote areas or with mobility challenges due to age, financial status, or disability. In the central and northern provinces of Dien Bien, Son La, Hoa Binh, Quang Nam, and Ninh Thuan, MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity partners with Vietnam’s National Expanded Program on Immunization and provincial authorities to increase access to COVID-19 vaccination among marginalized and vulnerable groups, including ethnic minorities and others in remote areas. The project helps implement microplanning for vaccination coverage, builds health workers’ capacity to deliver the vaccines, strengthens vaccine storage and delivery practices, provides supportive supervision, and evaluates vaccination coverage across the five provinces. The project disseminates evidence and lessons learned from our work in Vietnam to regional, national, and global audiences.
