Ensuring the Delivery of Essential Health Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic: An Infection Prevention and Control Readiness Response in Five Countries

COVID-19 significantly disrupted health systems, creating a need to assess both assets and gaps to prioritize immediate infection prevention risks and the needs of health care facilities. Developed by MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership, this report details the project's implementation of an infection prevention and control (IPC) COVID-19 activity in Bangladesh, Ghana, India, Sierra Leone, and Uganda. The annex of the report, a COVID-19 Readiness Toolkit, is also available for download.

Promoting Children’s Health in Developing and Fragile Settings: Planning, Implementation, and Lessons Learned on Pediatric Death Audits Rollout

On September 28, 2023, MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience and MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership hosted a webinar to discuss the integration of pediatric death audits (PDA) in fragile and developing settings. The webinar highlighted the role that PDA can play in improving child health outcomes, including reducing mortality rates, as well as building health resilience and enhancing quality of care.

Virtual Meeting Report: Strengthening and Scaling up IMCI implementation in the Context of Quality-of-Care Initiatives

This report summarizes discussions from a global consultation meeting organized by MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership of successes, challenges, and opportunities for more effective implementation of Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI). The meeting shared country updates from Bangladesh, Ghana, Malawi, and Sierra Leone on their status of IMCI implementation and best practices, identified major barriers impeding further progress, and recommended actions for overcoming barriers and operationalizing IMCI implementation at scale.

Conseils en planification familiale centrés sur la personne dans le secteur privé

MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics held a global convening, “Revitalizing and Scaling Up Postpartum and Postabortion Family Planning within Universal Health Coverage.” Presentations reviewed progress and challenges, how the pillars of universal health coverage intersect with Postpartum Family Planning/Post-abortion Family Planning, and how the maternal health and family planning communities need to come together.

Person-Centered Family Planning Counseling in the Private Sector

MOMENTUM uses the Counseling for Choice (C4C) approach to support providers in providing respectful, person-centered care. This brief describes MOMENTUM’s experience implementing C4C in Uganda, Niger, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, and Ghana, and shares lessons around adaptations, effectiveness and scalability of the approach.

Performance Indicator Reference Sheets (PIRS)

The Performance Indicator Reference Sheets provide the rationale for and precise definitions of each indicator found in the Primary Impact Measurement for Action (M4A) Framework as well as guidance on adaptations, disaggregation, sources, and methods of data collection and construction. Two documents are included: the indicators prioritized for USAID'S Primary Impact Initiative, and the full set of indicators included in the Primary Impact M4A Framework.

Strengthening Partnership with Faith Actors in Family Planning: A Strategic Planning Guide

High Impact Practices (HIPs) are a set of evidence-based family planning practices vetted by experts against specific criteria and documented in an easy-to-use format. MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership supported Christian Connections for International Health, a faith-based organization to develop a HIPs Strategic Planning Guide intended to lead program managers, planners, and decision-makers through a strategic process to meaningfully and effectively engage and strengthen partnership with faith actors in family planning.
