Data for Action: A Guide for Meetings Focused On Improving Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Program Performance in Low- And Middle-Income Countries

Review and action based on routine health program data is a fundamental strategy for driving an adaptive management and learning process to rapidly improve programming. Data for Action meetings are intended to provide a platform to provide feedback on data quality for prioritized indicators, review progress, and generate a follow-up action plan. This guide supports the conduct of such regular data for action meetings. It includes an illustrative agenda, tools, and templates to adapt to the needs of a reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health project.

Postpartum Hemorrhage Community of Practice: Manual Techniques for PPH

On June 22, 2023, the MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership-led Postpartum Hemorrhage Community of Practice held a webinar on Physical Techniques to Treat PPH, facilitated by Dr. Andrew Weeks. Speakers from South Africa, Norway, and Uganda presented on uterine compression techniques, external aortic compression, and the REBOA technique.

Engaging for Impact: Strengthening Private Sector Participation in Public Purchasing for Increased Access to Family Planning in the Philippines

On June 15, 2023, MOMENTUM Private Healthcare Delivery hosted a webinar with partners ThinkWell and the Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines (IMAP) to share how the project has unlocked private sector capacity to expand access to family planning (FP) in the Philippines. The Philippines has made significant progress in expanding access to FP services in recent years, but coverage remains uneven, particularly for long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs). Since 2021, MOMENTUM Private Healthcare Delivery has supported the IMAP to strengthen private FP provider capacities and participation in these networks, resulting in locally-led solutions co-designed by the public and private sectors. The webinar shared highlights from MOMENTUM’s work and provided global lessons for sustainable private sector engagement in family planning.

Integrated Management of Childhood Illness in Malawi: Successes, Challenges, and Opportunities

In 2022, MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership undertook several country-based qualitative assessments of the successes of, challenges to, and opportunities for effective implementation of Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI). This Malawi report captures the results and analysis from 18 interviews with Ministry of Health staff at the national, district, and facility levels.  The report breaks down the findings and recommendations across six key program areas: coordination and management, training, supervision, motivation, referrals, and supplies and equipment.

Using a Behavioral Lens to Identify Opportunities to Improve the Effectiveness of Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response in Indonesia: The Behaviorally Focused Applied Political Economy Analysis Approach

In the past several years, Indonesia has been implementing maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response (MPDSR) as a strategy to reduce maternal and perinatal mortality. To facilitate progress and complement its wider work in supporting MPDSR rollout, MOMENTUM worked closely with a group of key government stakeholders to apply the BF-APEA approach in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province to better understand the ongoing challenges and come to a consensus on solutions to resolve or mitigate them.
