Webinar | Deepening Multi-Sectoral Advocacy to Strengthen Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response: Stories from India, Nigeria, and Rwanda

Published on June 29, 2023

Preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) requires support and collaboration across many sectors — from civil society, to local and national governments, justice and law enforcement, and health and socio-economic services. USAID’s MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership project partners with stakeholders across these groups to improve coordination and to help governments be more accountable to the needs of GBV survivors, while also mobilizing communities to act to transform harmful gender norms that drive GBV.

As part of Global Dialogue events leading up to the 2023 Women Deliver conference, MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership is hosting a storytelling session to hear about GBV multi-sectoral collaboration approaches in India, Rwanda, and Nigeria. Panelists will discuss how those approaches have amplified the voices of youth and marginalized groups to create space for their inclusion in the policy environment. Together, we will reflect on these country-specific GBV collaboration approaches and advocacy efforts, and discuss our learnings.

Panelists:

  • Aarthi Chandrashekar: Resource Centre for Interventions on Violence Against Women, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai, India)
  • Halima Muhammad: Rural Women and Youth Development (Sokoto State, Nigeria)
  • Victoria Ajayi: DOVENET (Ebonyi State, Nigeria)
  • Alliance Ishimwe: Health Development Initiative (Rwanda)

The event will be moderated by Carol Ajema, Regional Senior Technical Advisor, MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership/Jhpiego (Kenya). Don’t forget to register and we look forward to seeing you there!
