From Trial to Country Implementation: Next Steps From the Groundbreaking E-MOTIVE Trial

Published on June 27, 2023

Please join the Postpartum Hemorrhage Community of Practice (PPH CoP), led by MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership, for a webinar to discuss the results of the E-MOTIVE trial recently published in The New England Journal of Medicine.

E-MOTIVE involves training and equipping health providers to rapidly respond to postpartum hemorrhage using a drape to collect and measure blood loss and a clinical bundle of first-response treatments, including uterine massage, oxytocic drugs, tranexamic acid, IV fluids, and examination followed by rapid escalation when needed.

The three-year, multi-country, cluster randomized trial showed impressive results — that the E-MOTIVE intervention could reduce severe postpartum hemorrhage and other adverse outcomes by 60%. If scaled up globally, E-MOTIVE could reduce deaths from postpartum hemorrhage substantially. Recently launched at the 2023 International Maternal Newborn Health Conference, the trial’s results made headlines around the globe and were described as ‘game-changing’ in their potential to significantly reduce deaths from PPH.

Join this interactive webinar to learn more about the study, ask questions about E-MOTIVE implementation, and discuss how best the results might be used in countries around the globe.
