MOMENTUM is partnering with nearly 40 countries to accelerate progress and advance USAID’s work to save lives and improve health outcomes for women, children, families, and communities. MOMENTUM combines specialized technical and country expertise through six distinct yet integrated awards with the depth and breadth of experience to improve maternal, newborn, and child health and wellbeing.

From April 2021 to May 2022, MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership collaborated with faith-based organizations to help very young adolescents  (ages 10 to 14 years) make informed decisions about their health. From October 2020 to May 2021, we also partnered with private and faith-based health facilities to keep services for mothers and children safe and accessible during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Helping Very Young Adolescents Make Informed Health Decisions

MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership worked with two faith-based organizations, World Renew Bangladesh and LAMB Hospital, in Bangladesh’s Satkhira and Dinajpur districts to help very young adolescent girls and boys challenge harmful gender norms and make informed decisions about their health using Save the Children’s evidence-based Choices, Voices, Promises intervention package. MOMENTUM’s approach included providing technical capacity development to strengthen the organizations’ ability to deliver tailored health and gender programming for very young adolescents, as well as organizational capacity development. In addition, MOMENTUM partnered with these organizations to generate actionable learning about very young adolescent health and gender programming.  To complement this suite of activities,  MOMENTUM is sharing this work with other organizations and leaders in Bangladesh and globally.

Keeping Health Facilities Clean, Safe, and Accessible During COVID-19

When the COVID-19 pandemic began, health facilities in Bangladesh rapidly mobilized to keep essential services accessible for women and children. MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership partnered with health facilities in the coastal division of Barisal to assess the care they provide and create safe, sanitary conditions for their clients and employees. We also helped facilities identify how they can improve sanitation and curb the spread of COVID-19 with infection prevention and control measures.
