Fragility, Health and the Risk Paradigm: A Health-Sensitive Framework

This article examines the relationship between fragility and health and proposed a health-sensitive conceptual framework for understanding the impact of fragility on health outcomes. Through a comprehensive literature review and comparison of existing fragility frameworks, the study identifies five key characteristics of fragility: alignment with the risk paradigm; multidimensionality; systems perspective; state-society relationship; and appreciating fragility in relation to ‘contexts’ rather than ‘states’. The paper highlights the need for a multidimensional approach to fragility that includes a distinct health dimension in addition to political, security, economic, social, environmental domains.

Analysis of Resilience of Communities to Disaster Health Toolkit

The Analysis of Resilience of Communities to Disaster Health (ARC-D) Health Toolkit was developed to support MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience country teams and their partners to conduct ARC-D Health assessments in target communities. The toolkit includes tools, templates, checklists, and instructions and tips for implementing ARC-D Health assessments. The toolkit will be supplemented by course materials for training and deploying data collection teams, processing data, and reporting on findings.

Impact of Joint State Advocacy Visits, State Engagement, and Capacity Strengthening in Nigeria

Quality service delivery in Nigeria has experienced setbacks and challenges over the years, adversely affecting health outcomes, particularly for mothers and children. In response to these challenges, the project identified state advocacy, engagement, and capacity strengthening as critical areas for intervention. This brief summarizes support from MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership to foster collaboration among stakeholders, enhance health worker skills and competencies, and improve health outcomes for mothers and children across all states in Nigeria. With combined efforts, partnerships, and collaborations from the Federal Ministry of Health and National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), advocacy plans, training modules, and schedules were developed for organized and effective trainings.

Locally Led Implementation of an Adolescent Intervention To Address Child, Early, and Forced Marriage And Improve Sexual and Reproductive Health Outcomes in Nigeria

This brief summarizes the implementation approach taken by USAID's MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership to address the multiple factors underpinning intimate partner violence, CEFM, and early adolescent pregnancy. The project worked at each level of the socioecological model by engaging adolescents and their parents, partners, and communities to yield improved social and health outcomes.
