MOMENTUM Awards Launched to Ensure More Women and Children Reach Their Full Potential
Published on October 1, 2020
Since its debut on December 2019, the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID’s) multi-award MOMENTUM project—Moving Integrated, Quality Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health and Family Planning and Reproductive Health Services to Scale—has launched a series of global health awards to accelerate reductions in maternal, newborn, and child mortality and morbidity in high-burden countries. MOMENTUM increases the capacity of partner government institutions and local non-governmental organizations to create equitable access to comprehensive and high-quality maternal, newborn, and child health services, voluntary family planning, and reproductive health care.
The growing suite of awards, each with a specific focus area, provides comprehensive support for countries as they face unique health challenges and progress toward self-reliant health systems. They include:
- MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience works to improve access to and availability of high-quality, respectful, and person-centered MNCH/FP/RH care in fragile and conflict-affected settings. This project enhances coordination between development and humanitarian organizations and strengthens the resilience of individuals, families, and communities, supporting countries to progress on their Journey to Self-Reliance.
