Focusing on Youth Voices and Needs at MOMENTUM-supported G20 Event in New Delhi
Published on July 3, 2023
“India’s G20 presidency will be a leap forward to ensuring that the needs and rights of the world’s 1.8 billion young people are addressed.”
The words of Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, India’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare, at the June 20th India G20 event, co-sponsored by the Ministry and the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health, echoed the aims of the day. He joined more than 350 government officials, young people, NGO staff, development partners, and technical experts from G20 countries to identify ways digital technology and innovation can improve adolescent and youth health.
Supported by USAID MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership: India-Yash, the United Nations Population Fund, UNICEF, and the World Health Organization, the event featured youth delegates, policymakers, and government officials discussing policies and programs to advance the health of young people across G20 countries.
MOMENTUM’s impact was felt throughout the event—from supporting the engagement of global and Indian youth champions, to hosting an online pre-event with youth, to sharing the project’s many impacts and learnings at a technical marketplace stall and beyond. A film screened on youth voices from G20 countries also highlighted youth champions from the MOMENTUM-supported Delhi Learning Lab.
