On June 15, 2023, MOMENTUM Private Healthcare Delivery project hosted a webinar with partners ThinkWell and the Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines to share how the project has unlocked private sector capacity to expand access to FP in the Philippines. The Philippines has made significant progress in expanding access to family planning (FP) services in recent years, but coverage remains uneven, particularly for long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs). Private providers are an important and trusted source of reproductive health services, but few offer family planning services. The establishment of local, publicly funded health care provider networks that would reimburse privately-provided FP services has the potential to address these gaps in FP provision. Since 2021, MOMENTUM Private Healthcare Delivery has supported the Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines (IMAP) to strengthen private FP provider capacities and participation in these networks, resulting in locally-led solutions co-designed by the public and private sectors. The webinar shared highlights from MOMENTUM’s work and provided global lessons for sustainable private sector engagement in family planning.
