Announcing Initial Convening of the MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics Fistula Rehabilitation and Reintegration Community of Practice
Published on May 22, 2023
At the close of the 8th International Conference of the International Society of Obstetric Fistula Surgeons (ISOFS) in November 2022, the Fistula Rehabilitation and Reintegration Community of Practice was launched. Conference attendees from participating countries jointly developed draft terms of reference to guide the group.
Working to end fistula means ensuring interventions that address the full complement of women’s needs: from prevention, to repair, to physical rehabilitation and community reintegration. This is holistic fistula programming.
In commemoration of this year’s International Day to End Obstetric Fistula (May 23), we invite interested organizations and individuals working in fistula care to join the initial convening of this community, to be held virtually on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 1300 GMT. Please reach out to Iyeme Efem, Senior Global Fistula Manager (Iefem[at]engenderhealth.org) and Olivia Morales (omorales[at]engenderhealth.org) to indicate interest in joining.
