Amid historic setbacks in immunization rates worldwide, a new and interactive tool—supported by MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership—has been launched to help track global immunization coverage.

In 2021, hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths occurred around the world as immunization coverage dipped to the lowest level in three decades. A new Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030) scorecard offers insights—from global to regional to country levels—on vaccine access, aimed at helping immunization stakeholders understand the current status of vaccine systems.

The scorecard is a collaborative effort, led by MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership, in partnership with representatives from the IA2030 Advocacy and Communication Working Group and the Monitoring & Evaluation Working Group, including specialists from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the United Nations Foundation. Strategic decisions were made by the IA2030 Secretariat and IA2030 Coordination Group.

IA2030 is a global vision and strategy, co-created by countries and development partners and endorsed by the World Health Organization, to create a world where everyone, everywhere, at every age, fully benefits from vaccines to improve their health and well-being.

The scorecard can be used to monitor progress toward immunization targets, understand the pandemic’s impact on immunization systems, use visualizations to communicate about immunization systems in high-impact presentations, and compare performance between countries and against regional measures.
