When it comes to rolling out the COVID-19 vaccine across low- and middle-income countries, all health actors must play their part. The public health community recognizes the best solutions for health happens when the public and private health sectors work in tandem to deliver equitable, quality, and efficient solutions.

However, private sector capacity may not be fully tapped to meet pandemic challenges. How can governments engage the private health sector to expedite the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine?

In a recent blog post from the Health Systems Governance Collaborative, MOMENTUM Private Healthcare Delivery and MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity explore how the private sector can partner with governments to expedite the introduction and rollout of a new vaccine.

Together with the World Health Organization, both awards are documenting evidence on and opportunities for effective private sector engagement in COVID-19 vaccine rollout. The collaboration will produce country examples of successful partnerships and provide implementation guidance across the three phases of the COVID-19 vaccines readiness and roll-out. Lessons learned and experiences will be showcased through a series of webinars and through the Health Systems Governance Collaborative site.
